Memorial Mass for Victims of Bus Crash
in Sherman, Texas
Friday, August 8, will always be remembered
with sadness in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
On that day, before 2 a.m. a chartered bus transporting 55 faithful
from the parishes of Vietnamese Martyrs, Our Lady of Lavang, Our Lady
of Lourdes, Christ, the Incarnate Word and Holy Rosary,
crashed in Sherman, Texas. The group was traveling to attend an annual
Marian celebration in Carthage, Missouri, in honor of the Virgin
Mary. Tragically, they did not reach their destination.
The accident took the lives of 17 parishioners and injured many
others.
Now that the funeral services have taken
place at their respective parishes, the Archdiocese of
Galveston-Houston gathers to honor, remember and pay respects to our
brothers and sisters who passed away that night. On Sunday,
September 7, at 1 p.m. there will be a collective Memorial Mass
at the co-cathedral of the Sacred Heart.
May the Virgin Mary receive the souls of
those who have left a legacy of faithfulness to us all.
